Richard & Kate walk us through the process of arranging their fabulous outdoor wedding!

Cilcain, North Wales

The Vision

We wanted to get married in the small village where Kate grew up, but suitable venues were thin on the ground. We wanted something quirky and unique, something that would wow our guests, give everyone a weekend to remember but be suitable for the village setting.

We certainly achieved that with Event in a Tent – following an initial telephone conversation, Niamh and Ian came out to our site to see if it was suitable for the tipis and offered us lots of great advice and a really useful list of contacts for caterers/toilets/showers/generators etc. They were really helpful and their informal, friendly manner really suited the approach to our big day.

The Set-Up

The week of the wedding quickly came around, and Chris and his team of burly tipi builders rolled into ‘town’. They were patient with our indecision, helpful with the set up, and grateful for the tea and biscuits! After what seemed like the blink of an eye our amazing venue was up and running and we were thrilled! It created quite a stir in the village and generated many visitors in the days leading up to the wedding – young and old, everyone loved it.

 The Big Day

The party started on Friday afternoon and went on for 48 hours, the tipi witnessed a lot of laughs, some dubious dance moves, plentiful drinking, and amazing memories in the making.

Afterthoughts

We couldn’t have wished for a better venue within which to celebrate our unforgettable festival wedding, the main tipi was cozy, pretty and perfectly atmospheric, whilst the canvas village provided ideal on site accommodation, and little love nests for many of our guests.

We cannot recommend the tipis more highly for a perfectly personal, quirky, and joyful wedding venue…we’re only sorry it’s all over…is it too soon to be contemplating a 10 year anniversary do!?
