Husband & Wife Share The Story Of Their Tipi Wedding

Carly & Jay

Oswestry, Shropshire

How It All Started

We met Event In A Tent at one of their open days at Chirk Castle and instantly fell in love with the idea and prospect of using tipis as our wedding venue. We had always planned to get married in a field at home and the tipis were a great, unique way doing of this and housing our 300 guests. They certainly have the ‘WOW’ factor.

The Wedding

We love music, festivals, live gigs…anywhere we can hit the dance floor. It was so important to us to have this theme throughout the day so, with that in mind, we wanted our very own festival-feel party under the tipi.

We got married on New Year’s Eve 2012 and, with the month of horrendous weather that we had, we were worried about the use of the tipis as a venue. All was well and the wedding went off without a hitch – well, after needing a tractor to pull everything into and out of the field!

Afterthoughts

We would like to thank Matt and his team for all the hard work and time they put in to ensure our big day went smoothly and the tipis looked great. This involved him and his guys working tirelessly through Christmas week to erect the six ‘Big Hats’ we had chosen to use. Also, as Matt’s wife had just given birth to their first child, we are sure he was getting even less sleep than usual – however, this didn’t stop him turning up each day, with his brilliant ‘can-do’ attitude and massive smile. Thank you guys!

*Update* Carly and Jay are still madly in love and have become our good friends in the years following their wedding. Carly manages the Townhouse Bar & Brasserie in Oswestry, where they hold an annual Christmas event using our very own tipis.
